“Do Not Let Your Left Hand Know…” – Secret Acts and Public Faith

  • unpastor
  • August 28, 2024
Jesus still goes a bit further with "Do not let your left hand know what your right is doing." At least, my brain thinks he did. Of the other measures Jesus called you and me to take to ensure that we don't mess it up, this one is pretty messed up and borderline impossible. To do this, literally, you have to ensure that all the thoughts and thinking involved in moving your right hand don't even cross to the other side of your brain. Our brains have two hemispheres, and each hemisphere controls the opposite side of the body. These hemispheres are bridged through the corpus callosum, lobes, brainstem, cerebellum, and others.

  • Paule
  • June 30, 2024
For years, I felt like a fraud, an imposter. It's something psychological like many people experience. I was a pastor, but deep down, my own beliefs were at odds with the doctrines I preached. I had a self-destructive habit of preventing myself from being fully authentic. I wasn't healthy. Leading a church terrified me. This internal conflict eventually led to a breakdown, and it took a rock bottom to force me to confront my fears and the issues within the church itself. I'm not the only one. It's amazing what a simple shift in perspective can do…eh, church?

An Abridged Sobriety Journey: Dealing with my inner children

  • unpastor
  • April 18, 2024
I tore myself, humans, and gods apart looking for answers to get a handle on myself. I got some 2 and a half years ago. I kept flailing for a while, picking things up along the way. I wasn't a small ship. I was a freight liner. Changing directions makes its own waves.

Likes Don’t Last: My Social Media Detox and Recovery Back

  • unpastor
  • April 9, 2024
A lot has changed. A lot. My beliefs, personality, practices, habits, etc. A lot has not changed. My beliefs, personality, practices, habits, etc. What had started as a retreat to deal with insecurities became a journey back to find my actual voice and to put out into practice what I only had been working on in "here". Shame was a part of it, again. Fear of disapproval, what people might think of me as compared to who I was, their judgments of my recovery, and harder ones had to be reprocessed.
